Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22nd, 1985 New York City New York) is well-known for her ability to act across different genres such as the period dramas through thrillers to action adventures. Johansson is the daughter of a film producer and an architect. Her family was based in New York City. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. She began to develop an interest in acting from a very young age, and began auditioning for commercials at age seven. Then she began her studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan for further training in her craft. At the age of eight old, Johansson starred alongside Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in Off-Broadway productions. And at age nine, she debuted in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson starred next as a character in Just Cause (1995), before making her big break in the film Manny & Lo - a tale about two sisters who are orphans who are able to escape. Her next film won praise for her performance as a teenage girl who been injured in a horrific accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and gained more attention for her role as the cynical teenage exiled Rebecca In Ghost World (2001).
